1. About Land of Illustrated Stories
Land of Illustrated Stories is a place where you can find beautifully illustrated stories, rhymes, jokes, and games that were originally published more than 100 years ago.
I bring these pieces in written form here, on this website. For some of them I create short videos posted on YouTube and Facebook. My hope is that you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover stories that have (in many cases) long been forgotten and be delighted by them.
2. About Bianca Aguglia
I’m not a good story maker-uper. 🙂 I can’t come up with new stories. Not good ones, anyway. But I’ve been told that I’m a decent story teller. I love taking older stories and make them relevant and fascinating again.
All the stories I’m playing with (a.k.a. editing) were originally published before 1923. Some are several hundred years old. They usually have beautiful illustrations that leave me in awe of how talented and creative their authors were. I hope you’ll be as charmed by them as I am.
P.S. I try to change the pictures and the stories as little as possible. My goal is to bring them to you as they were first published, but in a clear language and without some of the negative ideas we struggled with in the past. I don’t try to re-write the bad or sad stories. I just try to eliminate the words and messages which only made it into the original stories because we didn’t realize they were offensive.
I hope you enjoy this personal spin.
